Sussex Inlet Bowling Club Fishing Club

Sussex Inlet Bowling Club Fishing Club is a fishing and social club affiliated with the Sussex Inlet Bowling club. We are an active family friendly club located in Sussex Inlet on the NSW south coast. We aim to provide all information for the club via this webpage and on Facebook and encourage all members to keep in contact.

We have over 110 members including men, women, teenagers, juniors and young children. We accommodate for all levels of fishing from accomplished anglers to beginners. Our club has some very experienced anglers who are happy to impart their knowledge and always ready to give a hand if needed.

We run 2 very successful competitions, The B.R.O.E in May and the Webber Flatty Classic in November. This year, we are starting a free kids fishing competition during the Christmas school holiday break.

Our yearly competition is a point scoring competition which runs all year. We fish on selected Saturday and Sundays with weigh in at the Lions Park boat ramp in South Sussex Inlet.

We are always looking for new members, so please come along and have a fish with us or just some social fun.

19/6/2024 Notice to All Members of the Sussex Inlet Bowling Club Fishing Club:

The Fishing Club Committee has been diligently working to ensure the club’s progression into the future. We’ve seen growth and increased community engagement through various events such as the Kids Holiday Fishing Competition’s, DPI Try Fishing Day and the expansion of existing events like annual BROE and Webber competitions.

As part of our growth, it’s imperative that we uphold the safety and regulatory standards expected by the community, local council, state and national regulations along with ensuring our club has public liability protection for its committee and members.

After careful consideration and mutual discussions with the Sussex Inlet Bowling Club, we’ve determined that the optimal path forward would be for the Fishing Club to establish itself as an independent incorporated body and affiliate with a national fishing organization, such as the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA). This affiliation would provide us with further access to support, guidance, insurance coverage among other benefits for both the club and its members.

What would this mean for the Club?

We will propose that we transition into an independent entity potentially known as the “Sussex Inlet Fishing Club” and affiliate with ANSA as our national body. In doing so we can maintain our long standing and cherished relationship with the Sussex Inlet Bowling Club preserving our relationship, history, and continuing our raffles and social events with the Bowling Club.

Our affiliation with ANSA will open up avenues for growth opportunities and collaboration with potential sponsors to further enhance our presence within the community. Most Importantly, we will be gaining the required public liability and insurances for the club and its committee when running future socials and events.

What would this mean for club members?

For the majority of our members who enjoy attending social events, fish casually, and participate in weigh-ins, there will be minimal change. Membership costs, yearly calendars, and social events will remain consistent with past practices. However, for those members who are more passionate about fishing, our affiliation with ANSA will provide additional opportunities for those who wish.

The Fishing Club Committee would like to thank the Sussex Inlet Bowling Club for their ongoing support in negotiations and maintaining this relationship as we grow into the future.

There will be an Extraordinary Meeting on the 7th July at 3pm for those wishing to Vote on dissolving the current club and the formation of the new ‘Sussex Inlet Fishing Club’. We invite all members to attend, otherwise send in your preferences to secretary@sussexinletfishingclub.com.au

Regards

The Committee
